Restaurants | Honey & Co, London
I’m not a food critic so I’m just going to tell you how it is…the food is excellent. One of the best Middle Eastern fare I have ever had. If you get a chance to go, go. The fact that I’m writing a restaurant post tells you everything, when have you ever seen me write about restaurants? I’m a skincare and beauty writer.
Honey & Co, the space is light, easy and breezy, with lots of greenery. You instantly feel at home. You instantly know you will have a good time, the seating is comfortable, it pulls you in. In my opinion, this is not a business meeting restaurant, it’s a go-with-a-good-friend type of spot. Someone you can have easy conversation with, whilst you repeatedly order more food.
We had the autumn menu and ordered everything on the starter list. Don’t judge us. The portions were just enough for two and enough to enjoy all the amazing flavours without getting overwhelmed.
We followed this with the braised chicken thighs in plum & chilli marinade with roasted plums, bitter leaves & fresh herb salsa (sorry I have no picture!). It comes with a filo pastry crust and OMG -the flavours, the taste. Every single mouthful danced on your tongue, whilst you danced in your seat. We instantly started trying to figure out how to recreate the recipe.
And when it was time for dessert, we went straight in with the Feta & honey cheesecake with kadaif pastry base which looks like a little noodle nest, but trust me it all worked the way God and the chef intended.
It comes drizzled with Greek thyme honey, almonds & blueberries. I asked the waiter for his recommendation and without missing a beat he recommended this. I’m not a big fan of cheese cake but I was willing to be led and every bite of this was like entering the promised land. It was sweet, salty, tangy, crunchy, fresh. Perfectly complimented with a rich and bitter black coffee.
But it was all at just the right amount. Faultless, and I have actually thought about this dessert every day since. In fact, this is why I am writing this blog post, so that you too will go and be blessed. And also why the picture is so big! lol!
If you like a flowery drink ask for the orange blossom ice tea, it wasn’t for me, but my dining partner enjoyed it. The lemonade too wasn’t all to my liking. In fact. the best drink to accompany such delicious food is water in my opinion. You don’t need to over complicate things.
Also I would recommend going just before the lunch service is over. We did and it meant the restaurant didn’t get too crowded and there was a nice pace where the food was coming out fast as we were the last orders to the kitchen, but we had all the time in the world to take our time and enjoy every morsel.
